Charis India Care Foundation (CICF) was founded in Pune in 2007 and continues to work tirelessly to find scalable and sustainable solutions for addressing the issues of children, especially girls, living in vulnerable conditions in India. We believe that creating the right environment will go a long way in bringing holistic healing.

Our Vision

By following a mandate to treat each child “as our own,” we strive to provide a protective, family-styled ecosystem for children in disadvantaged and vulnerable circumstances.

Our Mission

We aim to redefine how vulnerable children are cared for, and provide an environment that heals, strengthens, and empowers these children to reach their full potential.

Our Why

Issues concerning vulnerable communities, such as sex workers and children living in Red-light districts, often remain invisible to the general population. As they say, many cannot fathom “how dark the darkness truly is.”

There is a need to

Build awareness among the resource rich and empowered groups and sensitize them about issues impacting underrepresented communities.

Establish authentic, high-trust, relationships with key community members from vulnerable areas where we work.

Facilitate grassroot leadership to partner with us in rescuing, caring for, and empowering children from vulnerable groups

Create and sustain a network of advocates and protectors through strategic engagement with the geographical neighborhoods where the new initiatives take root.

Identify and address the pressing needs, such as health clinics and watershed management, of neighbouring communities.
